Custom Apparel FAQs

What is screen printing?

Screen printing involves applying layers of ink on a surface using a stencil. To create your custom apparel's decoration, a separate stencil is used for each color that needs to be applied.

Screen printing has several advantages:

    • Produces crisper colors and clearer images
    • Allows you to use one or multiple colors to complete your custom decoration
    • Maximizes your budget with a minimum order of 24 pieces\

What is the embroidery process?

Embroidery creates a hand-made, three-dimensional stitched design on custom apparel such as caps, jackets, and sweatshirts.

What are the different steps in ordering custom apparel?

  1. Order Placement
    • Indicate your custom apparel's specifications online
    • Upload the file or create the design online.
    • Proceed with payment.
  2. File proofing and processing
    • UPrinting's prepress team will review your file. This includes editing files and converting them to the vector format as needed. They also perform additional checks for possible copyright violations or stitch overages in embroidery designs.
    • If the file has issues, we will put the order on hold and contact you to resolve this.
    • If you requested a PDF proof of the corrected file, we will only proceed with printing upon approval.
  3. Production
    • This is when your custom apparel's turnaround begins.
  4. Shipping
    • Shipping time is different from turnaround time. This is the time your custom apparel order spends in transit before it arrives in your receiving address.

What do I need to check in my artwork before submitting it for printing?

  1. Check your design's image resolution.
    • For the best printing results, files should have a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Files with a resolution lower than 300 dpi may result in a blurry or pixelated printing.
  2. All full-color elements or images in your artwork must be saved in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color mode. Do not save it in RGB or PANTONE color mode.
    • Otherwise, we will convert it automatically to CMYK.
    •  If your file is in black and white, save it in grayscale color mode.
  3. Convert all text into outlines for files created in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator or Freehand.
    • Convert the text before saving the entire artwork as a PDF file. On Adobe Photoshop, you can flatten the image.
    • Avoid using fonts smaller than 7 points. Keep lines at least 0.25 points thick. Anything thinner won't be visible once printed.
