Foil Postcards FAQs
Your choice will depend on the thickness and appearance you’re aiming for in the design. The 14 pt. cardstock is the standard choice seen in most business cards. This is recommended for anyone on a budget but who wants to exude reliability in their message.
The 16 pt. cardstock is slightly thicker and prone to less rigidity. It also comes with a silk lamination that increases its overall thickness. Recommended for those with a higher budget and who need to invest in a luxury design.
The spot UV area should be in a separate vector layer on your file. If you can’t separate it in a vector layer, contact customer service and let them know you’re sending a second file that shows the spot UV area in a different color.

- If applying Foil to text, use font size of 12 pt. or larger.
- Avoid using fonts that are very thin or have small spaces between or inside the letters,
- Strokes or borders with Foil must be more than 1.5 pt. thick.
- Limit foil coverage to about 50% of the surface area.
- Keep Foil and Spot UV elements 1/16” apart
