Custom Apparel FAQs
What is screen printing?
Screen printing involves applying layers of ink on a surface using a stencil. To create the decoration for your custom apparel, a separate stencil is used for each color. Screen printing on shirts and jackets is best suited for those seeking giveaways, uniforms, promotions, and team apparel that require durable custom clothing at a budget-friendly price.
Screen printing has several advantages:
-
- Produces crisper colors and clearer images
- Allows you to use one or multiple colors to complete your custom decoration
- Maximizes your budget with a minimum order of 48 pieces
What is the embroidery process?
Embroidery creates a three-dimensional, premium, textured look by stitching your design directly on the fabric. It offers long-lasting durability and is ideal for custom apparel such as caps, jackets, and sweatshirts, especially if you have small logos and text and want a professional finish.
Are there specific decoration locations for custom apparel?
Placement plays a significant role in your brand’s visibility and uniformity. With the right decoration location, you can ensure your logo gets noticed while creating a professional look for your team. Here are some of the most common decoration locations for custom apparel. What do I need to check in my artwork before submitting it for printing?
Follow these steps before uploading your custom apparel’s artwork:
- Check your design's image resolution.
- For the best printing results, files should have a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Files with a resolution lower than 300 dpi may result in blurry or pixelated printing on your custom apparel.
- All full-color elements or images in your artwork must be saved in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color mode. Do not save it in RGB or PANTONE color mode.
- Otherwise, we will convert it automatically to CMYK.
- If your file is in black and white, save it in grayscale color mode.
- Convert all text into outlines for files created in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator or Freehand.
- Convert the text before saving the entire artwork as a PDF file. On Adobe Photoshop, you can flatten the image.
- Avoid using fonts smaller than 7 points. Keep lines at least 0.25 points thick. Anything thinner won't be visible on custom apparel once printed.
For more information, check out our Design and File Preparation page.
Are there any minimums for placing an order?
Screenprinted custom apparel usually requires a minimum order quantity due to higher setup costs. Please check the product page of the custom apparel to learn more about minimums for our printing methods.
What shipping options do you offer?
We offer standard and expedited shipping across the U.S. Note that expedited shipping depends on the number of packages and product you ordered.
What file formats work best for custom designs?
AI, EPS, PDF, and PNG are preferred file formats for custom designs. However, we also accept SVG, CDR, JPG, TIF, GIF, and BMP.
Can I see a preview of my design before I order?
Yes, you can! We offer a free PDF proof of your design before printing. We’ll only start production once you’ve approved it.
