Custom large format posters are usually printed on glossy photo paper to enhance the design and make it more appealing to the target market. There are two kinds of glosses that you can choose from — high-gloss and semi-gloss — depending on the poster’s purpose. Although the difference of the two seems minimal, it highly affects the overall impact of the poster design.
High-Glossgives a glass-like finish to posters. It brings an intense sheen to the poster design that it makes the layout more vibrant. It results to sharper images and more vivid colors, thus ideal for photo enlargements. It can also be an option for posters that will be mounted on dimly lit areas — the high luster adds brightness to the art piece or photo.

Semi-Glossproduces a subtler shine on the poster but is just as appealing as a high-gloss. Semi-gloss posters are ideal for business graphics and presentations. If you plan to install your posters on bright areas or behind a glass, it is advisable to use semi-gloss — glare is lessened without compromising the color quality of your poster.
