What You Need to Know about Table Tent Templates

A table tent is a useful marketing and advertising tool. It is a free-standing triangular display that resembles a tent. Table tents are strategically placed on flat surfaces of restaurants, bars and hotels to display special offers and promos.

Designing a table tent layout appears complicated because you have to take consideration of the folds on its base in your design. Well, it should be much easier especially when you follow a template or a pre-made layout for a particular product. You can download templates for this print product from an online printing company that you trust.

A template identifies which parts in your design will be folded and the spaces provided for your designs. Using a template will not only minimize unwanted errors from your design, but will also help you finish your table tent design in no time. Also, templates allow you to create your design from your own desktop. After you’ve gathered your texts and images, design your table tents by arranging your elements on the template using a graphics editing program.

Template Terms

Template guides are composed of colored broken lines and white spaces. These areas are labeled respectively. Below are some terms you might find on table tent templates:
  • Safe Zone - inner white space enclosed by a border. It is an area “safe” from edge trimming. Place important elements within this space to avoid unwanted cropping from your design.
  • Trim – outermost space on the template. It is actual cut of the final design. Images and texts placed on this area will be completely trimmed off.
  • Bleed – border that lets you extend your layout to the edges of the table tent. Table tent bleeds are usually 1/8” thick.
  • Border– borders with 3/8” thickness around the template keep your images and texts from the ends of your table tents.
  • Scores – lines that indicate the folds of your table tents. There are three score lines on table tents: two folds form the base while the middle fold becomes the tip of the tent.

Table Tent Applications

Retail stores can place table tents on the counters to entice customers to try the new products and services displayed on the folded promotional material. For hotels, table tents are positioned on front offices to showcase seasonal discounts or regular offers like spa and gym facilities. Table tents can also be used as a table calendar. Print your company name and logo on the table calendar — they can serve as promotional tools and date reference for the whole year.

You can easily collapse and reassemble table tents when needed. for example, restaurants position table tents on all of their dining tables and counter. You can also place an adhesive tape on the base of the folded promotional material to make it stable on flat surfaces.
