Business card magnets and car magnets are two of the more popular promotional tools you can use for marketing. However, there are things you need to consider before you start buying magnets. For starters, it’s important to check the magnet specifications of these marketing tools before you order. Not sure of what to look for? Refer to the list below:

Magnetic Cardstock. Inspecting the quality of the magnetic stock is a must because the quality will determine whether or not your magnets will hold up once placed on a metal surface. Thick magnetic cardstock is advisable for designs with bigger dimensions because they have a better chance of staying on.

Size. Dimensions vary depending on the kind of promotional material you’re printing and the surface you plan on placing them on. These two magnet types have different standard sizes:
  • Standard size for business card magnets is close to that of regular business cards’. However, you can opt to use a bigger dimension, like that of a postcard’s, for more design space. Sizes range from 2” x 3.5” to 4” x 6”.
  • Car magnet sizes are usually around 8” x 8" to 23” x 45". Naturally, car magnets are bigger in size compared to business card magnets. These are great for outdoor advertising in high-traffic areas.
These dimensions can be customized to fit your design — that is, provided your printing company offers customization options.

Finish. The finish or the coating used would have a big effect on a magnet’s effectiveness, regardless of size and purpose. The coating makes the design vibrant and appealing to the target market. It also protects the surface of your magnets from scratches and fading. Business card magnets usually have a glossy coating to help enhance the designs. Car magnets, on the other hand, should be UV-protected to make them appropriate for outdoor use. Coating is necessary to preserve the quality of the magnets.

Now that you have ideas an idea of what durable magnets are made of, you can create your design and start looking for an online printing company that can provide you the specs you need to complete your project. You can set your specs you need on its website and place your order afterwards. Should there be any changes to your preferences, you can easily transact with them over the phone or live chat.
