Event coordinators set aside a budget for ticket production. Usually, they choose a company that offers the lowest price without even bothering to consider other details. As a result, they end up getting a poor deal. In business, one should always look for a deal that balances price and quality.

Before choosing a company, weigh all your options first. You don't want to pick a company based on printing price alone. Remember that there are many other factors that influence current price for ticket printing. Below are some of these factors:

Size

Size does matter. The standard size for tickets is 5.5” x 2”. However, you can always ask companies to print in bigger sizes as long as you’re ready to pay more.

Paper Stock

Paper stock refers to the kind of paper used in printing tickets. Paper stocks differ in weight and thickness. Usually, heavier tickets are also thicker. Tickets printed with a glossy finish are bound to be shinier and more attractive.

Printing Side

Tickets can be printed either at the front or at both sides. Having details printed at the back of the tickets may cost you more though. But having both sides printed allow you to cram in as many details as possible. In the long run, you benefit more from having both sides printed.

Die cutting

Die cutting is a method used to cut a paper to your desired shape. It is used to produce custom-sized tickets in large volumes. Event tickets commonly have rectangular shapes. However, there are organizers who like to customize event tickets. Not all companies are able to accommodate such requests but a handful of them still do provided they have a custom department. If you have a specific shape in mind for your tickets, better look for a company that has the right equipment to handle such requests.

Quantity

You might want to do business with a company that's flexible when it comes to the number of tickets you're allowed to order. Some companies require you to order by bulk — which may not be practical depending on just how big your venue is. Why order 1000 tickets for a venue that can only accommodate 50, right? Choose an online printing company that can be lenient with order quantity.

Printing Process

The process used in printing tickets affects the prices too. Some companies do thermal, offset and digital printing. Thermal printing means using heat to print words and images. Thermal printing tends to be economical since it needs less maintenance. However, thermal prints easily fade away like the one you see in receipts. Offset printing produces quality prints but using this method would only be advised if you're gunning for more than a 1000 copies. Digital printing is commonly used for job orders below 1000 tickets.

Finishing Options

Ticket printing prices can also be justified if the offer already includes sequential numbering and perforation. Perforation refers to the broken lines that make it easy to tear tickets apart. Sequential numbering is used for keeping track of sales made and the number of attendees. You want your tickets to have both as they do make facilitating an event way easier.

Turnaround
Time
Business turnaround time is another important factor. Some companies require at least 9 days to prepare your orders while some can offer them in 7 days or less. If it’s a rush order, expect to pay a higher price. That's why it's best for any event organizer to have their designs ready in advance. Avoid rush orders.
