Top Rated Questions for Greeting Cards
Why do I see a white border around my image once I've uploaded the file? I don't want the white border to show up on my greeting card. Bryant M. - July 9, 2009
The white border is the bleed. You can enlarge your picture up until the red lines. The area within the red lines is what will be printed on the product. The white border will not show up on your product. Answered by UPrinting.com Prepress Team
I then examined the PDF proof of my file for the greeting card design I submitted and found that some important images lie right on the safe zone line. Would you recommend that I move the images, even though I'm in a rush to have this job printed? Susan L - July 9, 2009
The maximum tolerance for the safe zone is 1/16 of an inch (.0625"), it may still be possible to continue with your design if it does not go over that, but expect that some of those images may end up exactly at the trim line. Answered by UPrinting.com Prepress Team
I have an AI greeting card template that I'd like to flip. Specifically, can I flip the design tool template so that the tree on the lower right side ends up on the upper left side? Adriane S - July 9, 2009
We are not able to flip templates for you. Answered by UPrinting.com Prepress Team
I'm working with a greeting card in AI, but when I upload it, I notice a white border around the image. How can I remove that border in the final product? Chad P - July 9, 2009
Having unwanted white borders around your design means that is it not set up properly for bleed. To set up your file add .25 inch to each of the dimensions of your document size. Extend your background image or color until it is at the edge of document area while keeping your text inside the safe zone. Downloadable templates are also available in our website to properly guide you on how to set up your file for bleed. Answered by UPrinting.com Prepress Team
I submitted a greeting card design I've been working on in AI. When I looked at the proofs, I saw some images touching the safe zone line. Should I move those images? I want this job printed as soon as possible. Steve P - July 9, 2009
The safe zone is 1/16 of an inch (.0625"). Expect that some images may end up exactly at the trim line if you do not stretch your image past the safe zone. Answered by UPrinting.com Prepress Team

The safe zone is 1/16 of an inch (.0625"). It may still be possible to continue with your design if it does not go over that, but expect that some of those images may end up exactly at the trim line.
