Four Color Printing
Four color printing pertains to the use of the four-color process also known as CYMK. This abbreviation is composed of cyan, yellow, magenta and the key color black. These basic colors, when mixed at different intensities, produce a much wider array of colors that can cover nearly all colors even in images.
Black, in particular, is an important color in the CMYK image space. Without it, resulting images would look inferior. Moreover, composite black printouts have a muddy appearance. Black ink is necessary to obtain a rich black quality.
Clear black texts are crucial for ad and marketing materials since the letters become sharper, and hence improve comprehension and readability. Images are affected, as well. The color gamut recreates pictures and graphics with precision in print.
An important step to remember before submitting your files is to have them converted from RGB (red, green and blue) into the CMYK color space. Printers use the latter while monitors use the former. Conversion is necessary to achieve accuracy in printing.
