Custom digital printing is having customized marketing materials printed using a digital press. It is a professional, high-volume laser or inkjet printer that doesn’t need plates to perform printing as opposed to an offset press.

Here are some ways you can customize your digital printing project:

Size – Different print materials have standard sizes. For example, business cards have a standard size of 3.5” x 2”. Instead of going for the standard size, try playing with size options. Instead of a standard-sized business card, try printing 2” x 2” business cards instead.

Shape – Marketing materials such as brochures, catalogs, event tickets and the like have a standard rectangular shape. Customizing shape would mean having your material die-cut. A die is a mold used to cut paper or card stock into a special shape. It can be anything from a leaf shape to a star.

Features – These are usually add-ons which you can incorporate in your marketing tools. For example, perforations, sequential numberings, hole drillings, letterpress, embossed text, lamination, and more.

Binding – Multi-paged prints are usually bound together. Choose from saddle-stitched, wire-o, perfect binding, case binding, side-stitching, plastic comb binding, spiral binding, and three-ring binding.

Finishing – This refers to the coating applied to your print projects. Choose from matte, gloss, UV coating, spot UV, silk laminating and more. This adds a certain “feel” to your printed material.
