The internet is an effective tool in acquiring new customers and keeping the regular ones due to its wide reach in the market. However, the internet has lost some of its marketing power throughout the years. There are users who have become cautious when it comes to purchasing a product or service online because online companies sell their products that don’t look the ones on their respective websites. As a result of this poor practice, businesses highly dependent on the internet for marketing purposes, especially small businesses who have yet to develop trust to their customers, are finding it difficult to draw and keep customers. Before making any transactions, users make sure that the company is “real” and authentic -— something that online marketing cannot guarantee. This is where brochures come in handy.

Brochures are perfect supporting materials for your promotional needs. Although online marketing tools such as websites and emails hold the advantage of having a wider market reach, it can only be accessed by those with internet connections. Moreover, brochures are more personable in such a way that they are handed out to your potential customers and are mailed out to your customers' physical addresses. With the many fraudulent practices happening online, establishing familiarity about your business through brochures is a much more intimate and authentic way to reach your audience.

Brochures back up your customer’s current knowledge about your product or service. Sometimes, they are also a tool to inform people about your existing promos or new product releases. That is why spending time and effort in designing your brochures is important. As a marketing tool, brochures should look attractive enough for people to not only take time to look at them, but also get the latest news and updates about your company as printed on them. Aside from the design, part of a nicely designed brochure is the type of paper used for printing this material.

For brochure materials, you can either use card or paper stock. Card stock is best used if you plan to mail your brochures. It won’t easily be damaged during the mailing process because it’s more resistant to wear and tear. On the other hand, paper stock for brochures is ideal for large quantity orders. Aside from the fact that it’s more affordable, paper stock is also easier to display as it is not as thick as card stocks and won’t require as much space on racks. Also, a brochure printed on this stock type is more comfortable to be brought by your customers because they can fold it and put it in their pockets.

After choosing what kind of paper you’re going to use, you can proceed on deciding the feel or texture of your card. You can choose between glossy and matte. Gloss coated is best if you want more shine on your paper for a happier or livelier mood. Matte coating, on the other hand, is smoother to the touch and has a more professional and business approach. Choosing between the two coating types, it’s all a matter of preference — the right finish on your brochures can boost their effectiveness.

Above all, you have to make sure you have content worth reading in order to push for a sale of your product. If the information is not relevant to your customers, it wouldn’t produce good results.
