Four color printing explained
An image printout is a printed copy of graphics or pictures. To create this, four color process printing is used. This pertains to the process of reproducing an image data using only four base colors. The four colors being referred to are cyan, magenta, yellow and black, more popularly known as CMYK.
These colors are layered in dot portions and the resulting collection of dots, depending on the intensity of each component, produces a full range of colors.
These colors can obtain a corresponding color to their RGB (red, blue and green) counterparts present in the images you see on your monitor. The computer screen uses RGB while printers use CMYK. Prior to printing, your initial RGB file needs to be converted of CMYK. This allows the image in your file to be separated according to the latter color space.
There are times when the colors in an RGB file cannot be matched with CMYK. However, during the process of conversion, the best and most identical possible color is selected to make sure that the images, including black or colored texts, are imprinted on paper without making their quality suffer.
